2021.10.24 07:12 XiPingTing [VBA] do you crop a range to non-empty cells?
I’ve written a user defined function that takes a range as input.
If works fine for something like A5:G27 but throws an error if you input full columns like: A:G (which raises other concerns but one problem at a time).
How can I crop the range A:G to only the region that includes values?

2021.10.24 07:12 Ermin99 How do you measure ''solid ingredients'' as cups?
It might sound like a weird question, but I'm an European and I've been seeing recipes with measurements like ''half a cup of onions'' ''half a cup of shiitake mushrooms'' and that's just so confusing.

2021.10.24 07:12 minimoviemaker9 500th Episode was a huge stretch, possibly a big mistake and here is why...
Essay time!!! Trying to have your cake and eat it too is a dangerous game to play.
In the case of the state of Olivia's character development, it feels as though they have wanted to make her a rape victim for years now, but haven't figured out a way to do it that doesn't anger the fans, sensationalize the act for character development because they forgot how (seriously guys, there are other ways, I could come up with 2 or 3 story arcs for her by lunch, it's not that hard, any fan on this subreddit could probably do the same if asked) or violate the current character traits she has (she's been around the block, a very savvy lady, she's not going to fall victim for just any scenario) also it would feel like an insult to every real victim that Mariska has helped along the journey of this series by "fake out" relating to the fictional victims....
They came close with the threat of rape: prison undercover assignment (more realistic), and William Lewis (not very realistic, and very sensationalized) and now they finally got what feels like is the writers bored-creative-minds wish: statutory rape.
I have 3 problems with how this episode went from your standard hook-up-with-an-old-flame TV cliche, to "wow I never realized that fond memory of my first love was actually grooming and being taken advantage of" and, of course.... insert "technically... that is...rape" - this was beneath the writers honestly....
Problem 1 - They wanted Burton to be a rapist without actually being a rapist, so this can feel grody, without being too grody (having your creepy cake and eating too): they concoct a story of one accuser, who says its rape, the detectives say... she is credible (ok.... what does that mean exactly? No evidence but our instincts say she is telling the truth....) this accuser has been groomed and was given the same mixed tape as Olivia.... other than her seeming credible, there is no way to verify that this is just this guys favorite music.... a little weird but ok...
Then several more women come forward who were not assaulted but pressured, phrases like "I didn't stop him" and "I gave in and had a drink him and then went to his hotel room" were used.... he sounds like a womanizer at this point, but the previous accusation of assault doesn't help.
So we have a man who we would not have blinked twice at, suddenly be a bad guy..... instead of trying to argue solely on the morality of their former relationship at face value, they throw this in.... as well as redefine a toxic relationship between Serena and Liv as having EVER been a good thing.... and if he is a bad guy, Serena created the hellscape environment and an unloved daughter that gave him the perfect opening, and drove her to seek, well, ANYONE ELSE REALLY....
Problem 2 - How far are they going to stretch the lack of a woman's agency in scenarios like Burton's accusers brought up? "I didn't stop him"? Really??? Not a "I'm not ok with this" or a "Stop"? Whether someone chooses to fight back or not is their choice but a warning to the initiator of the act that from this point forward you are the bad guy isn't even considered in the accused's defense any more??? This truly baffles me and I wonder how much credit I am even given as a woman with free will who gets to say "No" or "Yes" or not give any indicator that I want you to stop and have it mean anything? It's almost as if they want to invent a "Statutory Rape" for anyone of any age that is male in a superior position whether that be boss, mentor, teacher etc, pursuing a female that is in any way his subordinate, student, protege, etc. How far do we take this? If the relationships are flipped and a woman was in the mentor role, does that make it ok? We are completely removing the agency of the woman in this case as a being of free will, and are continually infantilizing females specifically in increasingly tighter parameters? We as a society, but also these writers need to decide now what they are actually saying about women going forward.
Problem 3 - Where is the age of accountability in a sexual encounter? Is a 16 year old capable of saying yes and having it mean yes? In half of the states in the USA it is 16. In New York by 1999, it is 17. At the time of the encounter between Burton and Liv it may have been 18. So does morality shift depending on the state you are in? They were romantic in the beginning of this episode and then they turn it on us in the end... sly and slightly confusing... If they had truly been in love, did that make it ok? and if he wasn't actually in love, then he is a rapist? You can't have it both ways... it was either wrong, or it wasn't... (Also notice that the age difference for Burton's sexual encounters becomes greater, now instead of a 5 year difference with him and Liv, it's a 30 year difference between him and his first accuser.)
So here we have a situation where, assuming they were in New York State at the time, then yeah...it was technically statutory rape. Do you see where I am going with this?
So in conclusion... they gave Liv another reason to feel bad about herself, and they got to throw the word "rape" in there finally.... But was it worth it? I understand that because of the accusations, Liv would have cause to doubt whether his love for her was truly sincere, and that would be hard.... but rape? I'm genuinely shocked that they would write her saying that, and it doesn't sound like the character at all frankly.... Just because you doubt his love and it didn't work out doesn't make him a rapist.
True story - once upon a time on a tropical island far far away (Hawaii) My Mom was in her teens and My Dad was in his early 20's when they met. Their families became friends, they dated, and when she turned 18 they got married and have been happily married ever since, currently planning their 28th anniversary trip in Ireland.... maybe 16 year olds have a brain and sometimes they meet young people in their 20's, fall in love and the rest is history. I count them both among my best friends as well as them being my parents... so excuse me if I find a 16 year old and a 21 year old falling in love to not be that disturbing of a concept if it's truly sincere and they go about it honorably.
The End (and now you can all come for me, but please, give me your thoughts on this matter....)
